The year was 1948. Alta, only a 10-year-old ski area, had already established itself as “the best skiing in the world.” Then, the Alta Peruvian Lodge entered the scene. It reflected the skiing atmosphere of the times – rugged men, brave women and even children skiing in bulky clothing and primitive equipment while living communally in lodges. That identity has never left us–or our guests–75 years later.
So we’re celebrating our 75th anniversary the only way we’d want to – with you, our guests! We’ve created a 75th Anniversary logo that you’ll find on the website and new merchandise that we’ll be selling online for the first time ever – modern times!
We’re also writing a commemorative Alta Peruvian Lodge coffee table book full of tales of local legends, past Peruvian parties and guests galore. But we need your help in creating this limited-edition book. Please consider submitting your own story or photos here and you might be etched into Peruvian history.
This season will conclude its 75th year by celebrating our owner John Cahill’s 100th birthday in April.
The 2023-24 season at Alta Peruvian Lodge is gearing up to be the most unforgettable one yet. With so many milestones to celebrate, we encourage you to travel however many miles it takes to get here and share the moments with us.
